Payment:  Backwater Rods requests a 50% down payment when you place your order. Once payment is received, your components will be ordered. Building the rod can take up to 3-4 weeks.  Follow up emails will be sent to customers keeping them informed of the progress.  Once the fishing pole is complete, customers will be notified and asked to send the remaining 50%.  Once full payment is received, your fishing pole will be mailed.  A $20.00 shipping and handling fee for the US will be applied. Shipping costs for orders shipped outside the U.S. will be determined on individual basis.

Choose A Blank - Ordering a custom fishing rod begins with the selection of the right blank rod. Decide on the type of fishing for the ordered rod (i.e. ice, spin, bait or fly) as well as preferred length and action. 

Add Components - Lastly, decide on reel seat and guides. High quality silicon carbide or SIC guides (colors include silver, black and gold) are available. Graphite spinning and casting reel seat colors include silver, black and gold. Fly rod reel seats and guides options are unique and will be discussed when ordering . 

Add Personal Touches - Customize your pole by selecting colors for the decorative thread work. Select a wood handle such as cherry, walnut, red cedar, or catalpa (foam and cork handles available upon request). Laser engraving can also be included on wooden handles (i.e.,  name or favorite fish).
